I March of 2021, Ghana’s Ashanti Region saw an unfortunate increase in fire-related incidents and deaths. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reported a total of 60 fires across the region and 5 fatalities caused by these fires.
These cases have prompted a need for greater public awareness around fire safety. Local firefighting teams have been urging the public to use fire safely and store combustible items away from heat sources to prevent any further deaths. With a possible lack of adequate resources to battle fires, the community needs to work together to put a stop to the ever-growing list of tragic fire incidents in the Ashanti Region.
By continuing to be vigilant and practicing proper safety protocol, the citizens of Ashanti Region can prevent further devastating events from occurring.
